iOS5 vs Symbian^3
With the sue cases against Apple Software that tracks its users, instead of a drop on the likes of iOS 5 that might also be tracking, the likes and results are climbing everyday. Currently, the regional interest is mainly of Germany with the most searches – according to Google Insights. The results for Symbian^3 OS were bad compared to previous years.
If you currently search on Google Insights for “symbian 3 os” then you shall notice that India has the most regional interest with 64% of searches on Google. The most reasonable answer is because the first ever device to have Symbian^3 OS had a bad impression on the folks out there. The Nokia N8 gave many problems of which some could not be solved.
Both platforms are completely different therefore the apps and other services will be different. the Ovi Store for Symbian^3 OS has 500+ apps for the N8 of which some have to be paid to use while others are free because of ads in them. Apps like WhatsApp are famous for its chatting services.
Unfortunately, there isn’t anyway to port iOS apps to Qt and vice versa so all of the iOS apps are exclusive to it only. This also applies for Qt, the apps can’t be ported to Qt.
Symbian is slow on releasing updates but when it does release them, some of them are worth it. The soon to be released Symbian Anna update is being patiently waited for by the Nokia N8 users. That update will bring new circular icons as well as improve the device’s usability and speed.
Unfortunately much cannot be said at this point because iOS 5 hasn’t been released yet, on Monday June 6 2011, Steve Jobs shall announce the operating system but there was a leak where it was stated that “Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.”
