Nokia N8 – USB On The Go
‘USB On The Go’ is a term used in conjunction with the regular USB v2.0. You might have heard/read in the specifications that Nokia N8 supports USB On The Go. To elaborate on this term, it is a USB protocol wherein your mobile can act as a USB host. Sounds techie and complex, let us simplify this. In simple words, you can now connect your pen-drive, portable hard drive, mp3 player, media player, etc directly to your Nokia N8.
Suppose, you have 1TB of portable hard drive with movies and songs. Now you can access all these right on your Nokia N8 without having to transfer them using a PC or Laptop. Simply connect your hard drive to Nokia N8 and play/watch the movies and songs on Nokia N8. So you can use your Nokia N8 as a media player as well. You can even connect your Mp3 player and transfer files to/from. You can connect another phone to Nokia N8 and access all the data in that phone. Nokia N8 acts as a host itself and each USB device that you connect to it acts as a slave. This really enhances the overall user experience and the possibilities of what more you can do with the Nokia N8. This is a rare to get feature even in high-end mobile devices and missing in iPhone 4 also.
