Nokia N8 Full Review
This blog started a while ago and the team was eager to get their hands on the Nokia N8, the moment has finally come. As told a month ago, I promised a Nokia N8 detailed review.
Introduction:
Since the date of the N8 being announced back in April 2010, with leaks out in September 2009, the Nokia N8 Portal team have been eagerly waiting for the highly praised brand new Symbian^3 OS. The prize is packed in a anodized aluminium glory alongside a 12MP camera, a Xenon flash and an AMOLED scratch resistant gorilla glass display screen.
In the box of the N8, the phone itself, a charger, a miniHDMI adapter to HDMI connector, two microUSB to USB cables (one female USB, one male USB), a set of headphones, a power charger and some help on the phone.
Design:
When the N8 is held, a sense of praise worthy object is felt. An anodized aluminium body delivers a perfect luxurious cold aluminium sensation when you pick it up, thats the reason why Nokia included the casing.
The sad part is that the Nokia N8 is not encased in anodized aluminium are its ends. But instead substituted for slick, extremely glossy plastic strips supporting the headphone jack, miniHDMI port, and power button at the top with the bottom end featuring the charging block.
Screen:
The Nokia N8‘s front side has a marriage between scratch resistant glass and aluminium, front facing camera, light sensor and menu button found on the bottom. A super-thin, semi-gloss 3mm strip of metal, borders the glass front, in the inside a 3.5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360×640 pixels is present, not bad for gaming!
The screen of the Nokia N8 shines but you don’t need the glasses. However the N8s screen performs exceptionally well but considering the above average pixel density, vibrant colours and fantastic viewing angles, 3.5 inches is a decent size but for a handset with 12 megapixels and the way of the albums displayed the N8 should atleast have a 5 inch screen to maximize the view. Nokia has decided to stick with ‘pocket-friendly‘ rather than ‘computer in a pocket‘.
More to come soon!
