Nokia N8 is confirmed to be supporting the famous video codec DivX. Many of you may be wondering what is DivX and how does this support impact your user experience with Nokia N8. To give a brief idea about DivX (Digital Video Express), it is a type of video compression technology that allows you to convert an entire DVD (4.7 GB) movie into a single CD (700 MB) size maintaining pretty much the same quality (at least better than your cable TV quality). This is a very popular format for sharing movies on the internet via torrents which is a controversial medium and many countries have been trying to stop it. Not deviating from the topic, the popular devices that could earlier play the the DivX movies included  just the computers, DVD players, Media Players. Now it has become possible to play these movies on mobile phones with support for the DivX codec.

Nokia N8 - Native Support for DivX

Nokia N8 happens to be the only and the first phone from Nokia that will have native DivX support. However, the supported resolution is still not known but since the phone has a HDMI port, the resolution support should be at least 720p. So now you can enjoy these movies without any conversion with a 3rd party software, just download the latest movies and transfer to your Nokia N8 to play them. It is entertainment unlimited with Nokia N8.
